First Day of Kindergarten!

Finley had her first day of kindergarten today...seriously, where did the time go?  She woke up, excited, and "just a little nervous".

Such a big girl!

The boys jumped at the chance to pose with their big sister!

Ace had a hard day...in the midst of preparing Finley for this big day,
he inadvertently got pushed to the side.  :(

Brent had us all huddle in the entryway this morning before we left and he prayed over Finley.  Ace stood in the corner and pouted and after the "amen" he boldly announced "I'm not praying for Fin!"  In the end he was able to grunt out "Love you, Fin" before heading into daycare this morning!  :)

I was surprised that Finley kept saying how excited she was this morning, but I believe that she really was.  I could tell that she got nervous once we walked into the school.  She quietly entered her classroom, found her cubby, and said "hi" to a couple friends.  I pointed out that the other kids were putting on their gym shoes, so maybe Finley should do the same.  The teacher overheard me and said, "yes, we will go to phy ed right away this morning."  Finley lost it!  Seriously.  She screamed at the top of her lungs, "I don't WANT to go to phy ed!  WHAT is phy ed?"  UFF!  I kept her at arms length and quietly said, "Finley, you do not want to do this on your first day...take a couple deep breaths.  You are fine.  Phy ed will be fun, you will probably do some stretches and play a game."  I then asked the teacher if I could sign up for P/T conferences and walked away.  I took my time and when I went to leave Finley had calmed herself down.  I said a quick goodbye and headed to work...with knots in my own tummy too!  Poor girlie!  I rushed to pick her up as soon as I could...anxious and unsure of what I would find.  When she saw me, she grinned ear to ear...and talked non-stop until bedtime!  She had a GREAT first day...and announced that Phy Ed was her favorite class!  Go figure!  :)

  1. Oh Jenn - I have tears in my eyes!! Poor girlie - poor Mommy and poor Ace! Big days for everyone in the family :) I know I will be by far the bigger crier when it's Nay's turn for school - I am nervous about Awanas already!
