Nana had a HUGE surprise for us last weekend...she picked us up bright and early on Saturday morning and we headed west to the cities...
...to meet Finley's cousins for a girls weekend!
These girls always get along SO well! Even though they don't see each other too often, they
always pick right back up where they left off! I am not exaggerating when I say the four of them
talked steady ALL WEEKEND LONG! :) That can be exhausting as a parent, but I can vividly
remember the special times I had with my cousins...all the laughs, stories, games, etc.
So this totally warms my heart that they are creating special memories of their very own! :)
The first stop was the American Girl store at the Mall of America!
Each girl brought their doll with and dined next to them at the American Girl Cafe for lunch.
The girls wore their matching "twirling dresses" that they got for Christmas.
They were the center of attention almost everywhere we went that day!
After a short stop at our hotel...we headed to Minneapolis...for Disney on Ice at the Target Center!
We missed the first part of the show which was from Cars, but the four girls
didn't mind one bit because The Little Mermaid was next!
The costumes were amazing!
For the most part, the girls sat in silence watching the skaters in awe!
The performances were put to excerpts from the movies.
So it was really like watching The Little Mermaid only condensed into 20 minutes!
Finley has never seen The Little Mermaid and it's been years since I have.
I think Disney is releasing it from the vault at the end of the summer. :)
Next...TinkerBell
Finley loves TinkerBell so we have seen this movie a couple times.
The props were so much fun...
Lots of pixie dust! (you can sort of see it by her right skate)
After a brief intermission the show wrapped up with Toy Story 3. I have only seen bits and pieces of each Toy Story movie. Finley said she has seen each at daycare. It was so funny! Ken and Barbie played a huge part...so funny to see them skating stiff armed like a Barbie really is...and Ken's plastic hair! Ha! I laughed quite a bit during this one. AND I also remember getting that Barbie one year in an Easter basket! Now it's considered "vintage"...uff! :)
The weekend ended with a trip back to the Mall of America for a few rides...
Finley was very brave and even attempted the Log Chute...she cried, but said next time
she won't because she'll know what to expect! :) She said she would go down it again
someday with Auntie Ericka and Ava, but "not this year."
Naomi...my neck still hurts from riding on Swiper's cars!
Finley's final treat of the weekend...a sugar cookie with LOTS of frosting! :)
A big thank you to Nana for all the planning...and all the memories! We love you!
