Project

We had a very laid back weekend at home...we got our flowers planted, yard mowed/trimmed, patio wall glued, porch cleaned, etc.  Yesterday afternoon, Daddy made time for one more project...

...and had plenty of helpers!

Love his double chin!

Soccer

Finley began soccer last Tuesday night.  She was full of nerves and did not know what to expect...I could tell she was nervous out on the field, but she said she had fun and couldn't wait for Thursday night!  Thursday night was better...no nerves; still shy, but that's just Finley!  This week will bring two  more practices and then beginning next week they will practice on Tuesdays and play games on Thursdays.

First soccer practice!

A Wonder Woman pose makes everyone a bit more brave!

AJ was quick to pose with Finley!

Ace didn't want to...

...but came around!

"Dribbling" around the cones.

More dribbling!

Waiting for her turn to kick a goal.

And going for it!  :)

Tractor Ride

How lucky is Ace???

Uncle Mike hooked him up with a John Deere tractor RIDE!

Ace still talks about the HUGE John Deere tractor he rode in...and Farmer John too!  :)

Trucks and Tractors, Oh My!

Ace & AJ loved being able to play with the "vintage" Tonka trucks and tractors at Uncle Mike's house.  A big thank you to Jared & Brandon for sharing!  :)

FINLEY

While in NDak we had to take some time to drive through Finley!  Finley saw her name all over town!

By the railroad tracks...

Flags lined Main Street!

City Hall...

The post office...

On the side of the school buses...

On the water tower...

On Uncle Mike's elevator...

We ran down the ditch toward this sign thinking that it was going to say "Welcome to Finley"...but when we got there, it was the gas station sign!  HA!  She didn't mind and thought she should pose by it anyway!  :)

Visit

The kids and I got to go to North Dakota for a few days recently to visit family.  The kids were troopers during the long, long, LONG car ride!

Great-Grandpa Sid showing Ace his John Deere calendar...

Ace quickly accepted this gift when it was offered!  :)

I love the look on Ace's face...going for a ride with Great-Grandma Bea!

I tried to get a posed photo...snap shots work better these days!

Great-Grandma chatting with the boys!

Where Did It Go?

Almost two weeks ago I decided Ace needed a little "trim"...So when Brent left to play basketball, Ace and I headed back to our bathroom.  He patiently sat as I trimmed around his eyes, ears, and neck. When I finished, I realized I had a very steady hand and his hair was PERFECT...to the point where it looked like I placed a mold on his head and cut around it.  So, I tried to add some "texture"...that didn't work, so I put a guard on the clipper...that didn't work either, so I went to the next size of guard...and below is what we ended up with!  HA!

When I first realized that he was going to need a buzz cut to "fix" what I had done...my eyes filled with tears!  Was this haircut going to make him look more grown up?  More like the big boy he is?  UFF!  Then Finley walked into the bathroom and gasped...she and I got the giggles and the tears flowed down my cheeks!  He stared at me the whole time with those big brown eyes, clueless to what had just happened!  After all was said and done...and after we cleaned up the huge pile of hair on the bathroom floor...he looked in the mirror and just grinned!  He loved it!

When Brent got home he said, "JENNIFER...what did YOU do?!?!"

It took a good week to get used to Ace with a buzz cut...and for me to accept that he is going to grow big with or without a mop of hair on his head!  :)

Ballet

A couple weeks ago, Finley and I enjoyed a "girls day" together.  We started the day off with some bumming, lunch, more bumming, and then we went to see the Wausau Dance Company perform Sleeping Beauty.

We got to the show early...but that gave Finley time to decorate a shield and fairy wand before the show started!

Mommy & Finley waiting for the show to begin.

During intermission, Finley stood up and said, "Mom, count how long I can stand on my tippy-toes...BUT count really fast!"  HA!  She enjoyed the ballet, loved the music and pretty costumes!

Warm, Sunny Days

Last weekend was b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l!  We spent almost every second outside enjoying the sunshine and warm weather!  After breakfast the kids enjoyed splashing in the "lake" in our front yard!

Finley wasn't so sure...but Ace marched right on through!

Pushing Finley to be a bit braver! :)

And AJ wasn't far behind!  The boots are as big as his chubby legs!

Looks like Ace is splashing little brother!

Their laughter echoed!

Always posing!

What do you think Ace is up to!?!?
Shortly after this...Finley and Ace had to sit on the steps for about 20 minutes to think
about why it is naughty to push a little brother down in dirty water and laugh
over top of him while he cries!
